The lessor demon lord that matron mother summons requires +5 weapons to hit. My favorite strategy is to use the cloak of the stars to create +5 darts, rest and then create 5 more. Then using my best dart thrower I usually take him out with darts alone. I have also had success using the ring of the ram. I believe if you get the improved mace of disruption you can use this also.

Kangex is not easy unless you have luck on your side or you use the easy ways to kill him. I like to do things the hard way sometimes so I'll break out all my gagets. Sometimes I get lazy and use protection from undead. The best defense without using too much cheese is to use spell trap. He will have to try to imprision you 4 times to get rid of that and in the process recharges 3 lvl 9 spells for you. This gives you all the time in the world to figure out how to kill him. If you get 2 rings of the ram they work wonders on him.
Another option is sheild of the archons with the mace of disruption. Normally the improved mace or azuredge are the only weapons that do any good here. You can also use the +5 darts, sunray and thats all I can think of right now.
